What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy

Dr. Sherry Ingraham of Advanced Dermatology answers all of your questions about the non-invasive skin tightening treatment, Ultherapy made famous by Hollywood’s elite.

What is Ultherapy and how does it work for the brow specifically?

Ultherapy is a wonderful non-invasive option to achieve subtle, natural brow lifting results. It utilizes heat energy to stimulate the production of collagen in the brow area which gives subtle and noticeable improvement after treatment, lifting and tightening loose skin over time.

Who is the ideal candidate?

Ultherapy is ideal for patients who are seeking non-surgical treatments with mild to moderate skin laxity. Many patients prefer subtle corrective techniques, like Ultherapy, initially before they consider exploring more extensive surgical options. This is particularly true for patients in their late 30’s to 50’s. Many men and women are now exploring these non-surgical corrective procedures that provide a more rested and youthful appearance but do not want to take time off of work or their busy personal schedules to undergo a surgical procedure.

How long does an average Ultherapy brow treatment last and what does it feel like? Is it painful?

Patients can expect their Ultherapy treatment to take around an hour for the full face and around 30 minutes for the brow. Comfort levels vary from person to person, with most patients reporting a slight tingling or warm sensation while the treatment is being performed.

What is the recovery like? Does it make skin red or bruised? When can you wear makeup and do you need any time off work?

Recovery varies from patient to patient. Some patients may experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness temporarily. Most patients are able to return to work and social activities immediately and can resume their normal skincare routine and makeup use immediately.

Does the average person need only one treatment to see desired results or more than one?

Many of my patients love Ultherapy because they want natural looking, gradual results that won’t be immediately obvious to their friends or family. The results of Ultherapy are different for each patient, developing slowly and gradually after treatment with maximum benefits visualized at 6 months after treatment.
