Dr. Ingraham Explains the NEW Injectable Filler for Laugh Lines: Restylane Defyne & Refyne
News Reporter: In Health Watch, anti-aging treatments continue to improve. Two new products that are cutting edge in getting rid of laugh lines just hit the market. Here to show us is Dr. Sherry Ingraham with Advanced Dermatology. Good morning to you.
Dr. Sherry Ingraham: Good morning.
News Reporter: We have a boost in patients right now. Everyone trying to get ready and look their best for Valentine's Day and for their hunnies.
Dr. Sherry Ingraham: Absolutely. It's amazing how many people want to come in and get their face, especially their lips, and their perioral treated before the Valentine's Day. This is so exciting. This is Restylane's newest product. This product just got FDA approved. It's been in Europe for years. We're so excited to have it now. The new technology is it contains something called expression technology. It's a higher viscosity filler which means it has a more natural look. It really retains its shape, but it's very extensible. It's designed to work when people smile. I'm going to show you on Michelle. Ideally, this-
News Reporter: We're not going to get close to everyone at home, so don't worry. We're not going... Just a quick injection, and we'll keep the camera far away. You brought in a patient just to give us an idea of what it was like.
Dr. Sherry Ingraham: Yes. What's so nice about this new product is that you can place it in the area. Then they've actually studied this product, which is unique to this filler, to show how well it moves. Smile, Michelle. What they did with the patients in their studies is they actually took photographs of the patients emoting, smiling, pursing their lips, making different expressions.
Dr. Sherry Ingraham: What this really allowed them to see is how the product maintains its natural appearance. What they found through research was what people wanted and what kept people from getting filler is that they didn't want to look unnatural. They strove to find a product that actually did what it needed to. It filled the lines, but it allowed them to look natural when they smiled.
News Reporter: Almost like a younger version of themselves versus somebody new?
Dr. Sherry Ingraham: Exactly, just you, but refreshed. It's designed and FDA approved to go in this perioral area, but also in these smile lines that many women have. Also in these melolabial folds. What's also so nice about this product is its longevity. It lasts up to a year.
Dr. Sherry Ingraham: We tell patients if they'll come in, we can treat these areas around their mouth. Then immediately they get instant gratification. Michelle can go out tonight. She might have a teeny bit of swelling in some areas, but she can literally go out this evening and feel rejuvenated.
News Reporter: That quickly?
Dr. Sherry Ingraham: That quickly.
News Reporter: When is she going to see the results? Is it instant?
Dr. Sherry Ingraham: It's instant.
News Reporter: She's going to be able to tell when she leaves here that something's been done.
Dr. Sherry Ingraham: Instantly. Instantly. We'll tell patients to animate, smile, purse your lips, and look at how the filler goes with the movement. It's not going to be such a firm filler as other fillers. It's going to be a more extensible, natural filler that follows the lines and expressions of your face.
News Reporter: All right. Let's see if we can tell a difference in the different sides.
Dr. Sherry Ingraham: Yeah, we've just put a teeny bit. You can already see in just that small area.
News Reporter: Mm-hmm (affirmative). All right, ladies. Thank you so much for coming in today. Looking beautiful. Good luck with everything.
