What is Clinical Research?
A clinical trial, also known as, a research study is conducted to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an experimental medical device, treatment, or medication. After showing benefit in the laboratory, new treatments must be tested among small groups of people to determine the proper dose and to test safety. After a dose has been determined, the dose is tested on large groups of volunteers to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the treatment for a specific condition, such as eczema, psoriasis, or acne.
Advanced Dermatology is at the forefront of the latest medical treatments and advancements in medical skin care. For this reason, we take part in research studies at our Center for Skin Research.

Our Current Dermatology Research Studies
Hidranitis Suppurativa (HS) is a disease that features pea- to marble-sized lumps under the skin that can be painful and tend to enlarge and may drain. HS is most common on the underarms and groin.
Qualified participants must:
- Be 18 years of age and up
- Additional criteria may apply
Qualified participants may see a physician or medical staff, may receive study-related care and medication at no cost to them. Participants will be compensated for their participation.
Atopic Dermatitis is a chronic eczematous skin disease that usually begins in childhood. In atopic dermatitis, the skin becomes extremely itchy and inflamed, causing redness, swelling, vesicle formation (minute blisters), cracking, weeping, crusting, and scaling.
Qualified participants must:
- Be 18 years of age and up
- Additional criteria may apply
Qualified participants may see a physician or medical staff, may receive study-related care and medication at no cost to them. Participants will be compensated for their participation.
