What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a safe, noninvasive treatment at Advanced Dermatology that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin. By accessing your body’s own regenerative response, Ultherapy can gently and gradually lift skin on the eyebrow, neck, face, under the chin, and also smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. Ultherapy is also the only cosmetic procedure to use ultrasound imaging and the only noninvasive FDA-cleared treatment that will actually lift the skin. Afterward, as your skin begins to heal itself, your body goes into a natural collagen production mode to repair the skin. This procedure can be used in combination with other skin rejuvenation treatments, such as laser skin resurfacing or an injectable, to leave the skin looking revitalized. How is Ultherapy 1.5 MM Different?

Compared to the standard Ultherapy treatment, the 1.5 MM version is intended to treat specific, delicate areas of the face, such as the eyes and lips, including the improvement of the texture and tone of the skin. What makes this similar to the standard version is that it also uses ultrasound energy as a catalyst to produce collagen in the areas of the skin.

Am I an Ideal Candidate for Ultherapy?

Men and women can both benefit from Ultherapy treatments. If you have noticed that your facial skin has become loose with mild to moderate lines (around the mouth, brow, and eyes), or noticing a slight droop in the jowls, you may be a good candidate for this nonsurgical treatment. If you have severe sagging or deeper lines and wrinkles, a surgical facelift may be a more suitable option for you.

How is Ultherapy Performed?

When you arrive, you will be asked to lie down in our private minor procedures room. Then, we will prepare your treatment area, which may include the application of a numbing agent. During the procedure, a handheld device that emits ultrasound energy will glide over your skin. By using an advanced ultrasound imaging display, we are able to locate the bone and tissue under your skin to let us select the proper energy level to use. You may be able to feel these small energy bits being deposited to the right depths during the treatment, which indicates that the process to rebuild collagen has started. It will usually take between 60 – 90 minutes to go through a face and neck procedure, whereas chest skin tightening will last about 30 minutes.

It is normal for your skin to appear slightly pink and swollen. You can use ice packs and take over-the-counter pain medications to decrease the pain and inflammation. Freshen up with makeup after your appointment if you want to and resume your day as usual.

What Should I Expect Following Ultherapy Treatments?

After going through the Ultherapy treatment, you will start to notice some initial effects right away. The best results will begin to show 2 – 3 months after the procedure and can potentially improve up until the sixth month. Some of our Ultherapy patients will only require a single skin tightening treatment and results that may last up to 12 – 24 months. If you have more skin laxity, then you may benefit more from additional treatments. Undergoing repeat procedures will ensure longer-lasting results and enhanced appearance.

There is zero downtime involved when you undergo Ultherapy. Once you’re done with the treatment, your texture may appear flushed, but this redness will eventually subside in a few hours. There might be a little swelling, bruising, tenderness, or tingling felt by some, but these side effects are simply temporary.
