Host: Welcome back everyone. Well, as it always is on Tuesdays, Splurge vs Steal, and it's a real eye opener today. Puffy bags, dark circles, we've all had them. It's the kind of baggage you'd rather leave at home. But today we've got some solutions, some that may cost a pretty penny, and some that won't at all. So in just a blink of an eye, you can unpack those eye bags for good. So dermatologist Dr. Sherry Novick is here with us to show us just how to do this. Thanks, Dr. Novick.

Host: Okay, so you have, we're calling this the supersize splurge, then there's the splurge, and then there's the steal. So the supersize is a little bit more involved. It's a procedure called Fraxel?

Dr. Sherry Ingraham: Right? It's called Fraxel laser, and the Fraxel laser was designed to minimize downtime, but maximize the benefits of laser treatment. Historically you needed about two weeks after a laser resurfacing procedure for the skin to regenerate. This is a video of the actual procedure.

Host: So what is the blue stuff that you're putting on there?

Dr. Sherry Ingraham: The blue dye is a tracking mechanism for the laser. It follows along and only targets the areas that have the blue dye on them.

Host: Okay, and we're actually going to get to see this patient. This is a patient, Barbara. We're going to see her after shot. Then this is the laser that-

Dr. Sherry Ingraham: Right. This is the Fraxel itself. I'm taking down the laser in this video and I'm going to apply it to her face, and you'll realize she's very comfortable. We've applied an anesthetic to her face for about an hour before the procedure, and that's all she needs.

Host: Mm-hmm. So you do it around the eyes, but it can also be used on the neck, on the hands, on the-

Dr. Sherry Ingraham: or minimize wrinkles it can be used.

Host: And on the lip line too?

Dr. Sherry Ingraham: Around the mouth is wonderful, wonderful.
