A rash is characterized as a change of the skin that affects its color, appearance or texture. A rash may be localized in one part of the body, or affect entire areas of skin. Rashes may cause skin to itch, change color, feel warm, bumpy, dry, crack, blister or swell. Some rashes may be painful or irritating, while others may simply cause aesthetic concern. A common dermatological condition, rashes come in many forms and, depending on the cause, may take days or even weeks to heal. It is important to see a medical provider for proper diagnosis and treatment of your rash.
There are numerous causes of rashes including allergies, certain plants, bugs, medications, illnesses and even irritations from cosmetics, household cleaners or chemicals.
The causes, and therefore treatments for rashes, vary widely. Diagnosis must take into account such things as the appearance of the rash, occupation, family history, symptoms and exposure. Over the counter remedies include use of a mild cleanser or topical hydrocortisone. Most rashes are not life-threatening, however some rashes may be an indication of a more serious condition. If you experience dizziness, trouble breathing or confusion, seek emergency help. If you have a rash that is not responding to over-the-counter remedies, contact Advanced Dermatology for an effective treatment plan.

“I’ve been seeing Dr. Ingraham for four years for treatment of wrinkles and aging and her touch and technique with Botox injections (and other aging treatments) is first class.”
“I will never go to any other dermatologist! Dr. Duncan has taken care of me for about seven years now, and she is an incredible doctor. The best thing about her is that she is an expert on making you look refreshed and younger without any signs that you have had anything done. I get Botox and filler from Dr. Duncan, and no one can believe that I am 44, or for that matter that I have had any work done. Subtlety is her specialty! [She has] a keen eye for assessing your particular needs, without pushing unnecessary treatments or products. Advanced Dermatology takes pride in their work and it shows!”
